The recording brings together Aquiles Priester, Edu Ardanuy, Thiago Bianchi, Dani Matos, Fábio Laguna, and Guilherme Torres in a performance of the classic Angra track.

The All Metal Stars BR project released a new video playing “Carry On,” one of the greatest classics in Andre Matos’ history, originally released on Angra’s award-winning album Angels Cry (1993). The content highlights the central purpose of the tour: to celebrate the work and legacy of Andre Matos, one of the most influential names in world metal, whose trajectory continues to inspire generations. In the video, the All Metal Stars BR lineup presents a powerful and respectful rendition of “Carry On,” balancing fidelity to the era-defining arrangements with the identity of musicians who helped write fundamental chapters in the history of metal in the country.

The tour brings together three icons of the genre: Aquiles Priester (Angra, Hangar and W.A.S.P), Edu Ardanuy (Sinistra and Dr. Sin) and Thiago Bianchi (Noturnall and Shaman). The project pays an unprecedented tribute to Andre Matos, one of the biggest names in world metal, whose work has influenced generations. The tribute takes on an even more personal tone with the special participation of Dani Matos, Andre’s brother and current bassist of Viper.

The team of musicians is completed by heavyweight names: Fábio Laguna (ex-Angra), Guilherme Torres and Saulo Xakol (both from Noturnall), forming a true constellation of Brazilian metal. Together, they promise an intense and exciting show, full of classics, surprises and tracks rarely played live.

New names in metal also take the stage
The tour also makes room for the new generation of national metal. The Porto Alegre-based band Phornax, led by Cristiano Poschi and Eduardo Martinez (formerly of Hangar), will be the special guest on the tour. Also participating are Krakkenspit, a highlight of tours with Edu Falaschi and Noturnall, and the veteran band Tierramystica, present at the Northeast dates.

Solidarity tickets and social responsibility

In addition to the musical tribute, the event also fulfills an important social role: tickets include a solidarity option, offering a discount upon donation of 1 kg of non-perishable food or pet food. The donations will be destined for local charities in each city.

Los Angeles College of Music

Posted at 01/15/2026

Yesterday marked my first day teaching at the Los Angeles College of Music, a meaningful milestone in my academic and professional journey.

This quarter, I am introducing a new metal drumming curriculum developed from over 25 years of teaching experience, informed by my work creating award-winning educational DVDs and books, and supported by 100+ pages of original instructional material developed exclusively for my students. This represents one of the first college-level courses in heavy metal drumming in the United States.

I am sincerely grateful to Marcelo Bucater and the LACM board for their trust and support.
Special thanks to my sponsors Mapex Drums, Paiste Cymbals, Evans Drumheads, ProMark Sticks, and LP Percussion, for their continued support and for providing new gear for my students during this very special moment.
Proud to be part of this historic step in contemporary music education.

The band Hangar releases the track “Prisioneiro do Alvorecer,” a Portuguese reinterpretation of a composition created in 1985 by the legendary Marco Di Martino, bassist, founder, and main composer of Spartacus, a band still active today. Between 1991 and 1992, drummer Aquiles Priester was a member of the band Spartacus in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, where he recorded only one demotape. This composition was officially released by Spartacus on their second album, “Imperium Legis.”

During In updating his biography on his official website, Aquiles revisited memories of that period and rediscovered the composition. From there, the idea arose to re-record it with Hangar, in a new version featuring contemporary arrangements and reinterpreted lyrics. The song reflects on human relationships and the impact of social media, maintaining a dialogue with current themes and strengthening the connection between different generations of Brazilian metal.

“When I showed “Prisioneiro do Alvorecer” to the band, everyone loved the idea of re-recording it. We just dedicated more time to producing the vocals, including new backing tracks. It’s incredible to see the synergy Hangar has when it comes to heavy music; everyone understood what the song needed to reflect the band’s personality,” said drummer Aquiles Priester.

With this release, Hangar strengthens its connection to the genre’s history and honors the legacy of bands that helped shape the Brazilian scene.
